Cabinet Refinishing in Atascadero, CA: Flawless 5-Day Redo

Project Description

A kitchen can make or break how a home feels, and cabinets are usually the first thing to show wear. This project paired cabinet refinishing in Atascadero, CA, with a full interior kitchen repaint, so an Atascadero homeowner did not have to choose between a fresh look and a full remodel budget. Dated cabinet finishes and tired kitchen walls held the whole room back, even though the layout worked well.

Trombley Painting Company‘s crew handled both problems as one project instead of two separate jobs. They removed the cabinet doors and drawers, refinished them off-site, and reinstalled them, while repainting the kitchen walls in place. The full scope was completed in 5 days for $4,313, using a Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane custom color match built for daily kitchen use.

Project Scope: Cabinet Refinishing in Atascadero, CA

Kitchen projects fail when a crew treats the cabinets and the walls as unrelated jobs. This one did not. Here is how the full scope broke down.

Interior Kitchen Walls

The kitchen walls were repainted in the same visit, so the new cabinet finish and the wall color would read as one finished room, not two mismatched projects.

Cabinet Doors and Drawers

We labeled every door and drawer front and removed them first. Pulling them off-site keeps overspray and dust out of the kitchen, which matters in a room a family still has to use.

Surface Preparation

We cleaned, sanded, and degloss-prepped each piece before any product touched the wood. This step is what separates cabinet refinishing that lasts from a quick coat that chips within a year.

Priming

A dedicated primer was applied so the finish coat had something to grip. Skipping this step is the most common reason cabinet paint fails early under daily use.

Finish Coats

The cabinet refinishing finish was sprayed in a controlled setting using a Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane custom color match, matched to the homeowner’s exact target color rather than the closest stock option.

Cure and Reinstall

Finished pieces cured before hardware and doors went back on, so the surface would hold up to daily hinges, hands, and cleaning from day one.

The same crew ran the project from start to finish. For homeowners comparing options, our Atascadero, CA cabinet painting services page outlines the same process.

Paints & Products Used

Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane (Custom Color Match)

This product was chosen for its urethane-based durability, which holds up to the daily wear a kitchen puts on cabinet doors and drawers: hands, hinges, cleaning, and heat from nearby cooking. The custom color match meant the homeowner was not limited to a stock swatch. Emerald Urethane levels out to a smooth, factory-style finish when sprayed, which is why it paired well with the off-site refinishing process used on this cabinet refinishing project in Atascadero, CA.

Why Choose Trombley Painting Company

Result of Cabinet Refinishing in Atascadero, CA

Before this project, the kitchen’s cabinets and walls looked like they belonged to different decades. Years of daily use had worn the cabinet finish, and the wall color no longer matched the rest of the updated home.

After 5 days, the kitchen had a custom-matched cabinet finish and freshly painted walls that read as one cohesive room. The homeowner got a factory-style cabinet finish without the cost or disruption of a full kitchen replacement, for a total project cost of $4,313.

This project shows what cabinet refinishing in Atascadero, CA looks like when it is paired with a full interior kitchen repaint: two projects handled as one, on one timeline, with one fixed cost.
